Firefighter of the Year

Becoming Idaho 's Firefighter of the Year is one of the greatest achievements that the fire service can
bestow upon a fellow firefighter. Few will share in its just recognition for doing their best since there
is only one chosen per year, but many can be identified when nominated by their peers. Being
nominated in itself is a great honor for worthy accomplishment. It should be emphasized that the
Firefighter of the Year will be chosen for accomplishments DURING THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS
prior to Fire School . Considerations will be given for exceptional achievement throughout the
firefighter's career, but on a lesser scale.
ELIGIBILITY RESTS ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
1. Each department should select a nominee for the award with supporting material in letter form to the Fire Chief or Chairman of the nominating committee for his signature and forwarded to the President of the Idaho State Fire School:

2. The nominee must be actively associated with the Fire Service in Idaho
at the time of the nomination.
3. The nomination letter should describe the nominee's: dedication to the job, giving that little extra more than is asked for; exceptional actions above and beyond the normal call of duty; contributions to the fire service and community; and, personal self-improvement which benefits those who work around him/her.
4. All nominations must be submitted by the close of business the
first day of Fire School , June 17, 2011 .
5. The award winner will be selected by a committee of members from the
Board of Directors based on the letters submitted.
6. All nominees must be present at the Fire School Awards Banquet for the presenting of the trophy and plaques.
The only acceptable reason for absence is serious illness or death.
7. A copy of the letter and photograph of the winner shall be furnished to the Pocatello Fire Department by the nominee's department.
